Windows 10: Hyper-V in Win 10 Tech Preview, first impression: Nice!!!

Good stuff here Kari, wish I had seen it before I tried Hyper-V ... it was easy enough after a few stumbling blocks never having played with VMs before (other than IBM iron) *Wink

Same restriction applies to VBOX as well. Just finishing Backups before I start installing.

Jimbo I have had no issues using VirtualBox and Hyper-V on same Windows 8.1 host, have not tested on Windows 10 yet but I believe it will work, too.

That's what I got the first time so I uninstalled and tried VMWARE after disabling HYPER-V.

Now though trying the HYPER-V option -- I think in the long run this will run VM's a lot better than VMWARE.

I'm also going to have a go with XEN or similar on Linux -- this is getting all quite fun !!!!-

Woman won't let me set up my "Trading hardware" with 4 ginormous monitors !!! that I've got until all the other hardware in the place has been "tidied up" --she says she wants to come into a HOME - not a Computer Lab or a "Market trading dealing floor" !!! with bits of computer hardware and cables all over the place in every room !!!!.

Well I've hidden myself in the loft with two laptops and a desktop -- will have to "appease her" though over the weekend. !!!!

Some Linux distros require the same legacy NIC stuff than XP vm as told previously here. If you can't connect your Linux vm to network, try removing the virtual NIC from vm settings and add a legacy NIC connecting it to external switch.

You're a Winner at this -- I can't rep you again just now - but you deserve it. Now I'm getting confused with so many laptops over the place as to what laptop connects with what VM via what RDP panel !!!! - I'm not the tidiest of workers !!!! (and got someone downstairs urging me to remove 4 huge 60 inch monitors in enormous boxes from our front room !!!! - She says she'es cutting my internet in 5 mins unless I start tidying up !!!! and after that cutting the power too !!!! - Well sometimes "She who must be obeyed.." - anyway she's put up with a lot of stuff over the last few days !!


Thinks --I'll be glad to get back to work in Brussels next week - and have a rest - holidays are too much like hard work !!!.
