  1. Hyper-V refuses to connect to guest when updates KB4556799 and KB4552931 present on host

I'd like help solving a problem with Hyper-V after installing Windows updates KB4556799 and KB4552931 that were just pushed to my system.

After the update, Hyper-V cannot connect to a guest console. The guest operating system runs normally -- I can reach the application that it's supporting. Only the console is affected. Whenever I attempt a console connection, I receive the message "cannot connect to virtual machine".

After rolling back KB4556799 and KB4552931, the problem disappears.

These are important security and bug fixes. I need to install these updates but also need to be able to attach to the guest console.

Host is Windows 10 Pro version 1903.

Guest is CentOS Linux release 7.8.2003 Core.

One possible clue is in the description of KB4556799. It's a security update. One of the security issues it addresses is described as:

"Windows Hyper-V, CVE-2020-0909, Windows Hyper-V Denial of Service Vulnerability, Important"

Secure file share with between host and hyper-v guest

I have a windows 10 host running hyper-v. I want to share the files that are on the host securely with a hyper-v vm without having to copy the files, i.e. the file share is on the host not the guest.

Current method is to set up a file share on the host and disable authentication for ALL file shares, this is so that I do not need to store the host account
credential on the VM which would be a risk. I then set up a internal virtual switch in hyper-v and disable files sharing protocal on ALL other network interfaces on the host. I not sure this is secure but its defiantly not very elegant for such a seeming
    simple problem.

I can see it causeing problems in the future when we need another files share on the host for a differnet reason.

Is there a simpler, less invasive way to do this?

How do I transfer files from Windows 10 host to Windows XP guest in Hyper-V?

    Hi Larry,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Transferring files from a host OS to a guest OS in Hyper-V can be done through multiple ways. You may want to refer
to the suggestion by H Shakir on the thread
    How to setup files and
folders sharing between Hyper-V host and guest operating system
    and see if it helps.

However, if you have further queries regarding the same, I would suggest you to post your query in the
TechNet Forums, where we have support professionals well equipped with the
    knowledge on Hyper-V.

Hyper-V, Windows 2019 Guests network intermittent

I am running one Realtek NIC, on a Windows Server 2019 Datacentre Host machine with 2 virtual machines hanging from this, both running windows server 2019.

Up until recently, there have been no issues with connectivity to the server and we have been running fine. As of an unexpected shutdown on Saturday, we are now able to ping the host with a stable connection, but the guest machines are running at a 40-60%
    packet loss continuously.

Steps tried: VMQ Disabled on all machines and adapters Deleting Hyper-V virtual switch Resetting Windows network settings Updating drivers Updating Windows

No settings were changed before it went from working to non-working. Has anyone got any ideas?
