Windows 10: I added a new samsung SSD internal drive added into slot 2 but was not detected on startup...

Laptop is a NITRO 7Samsung SSD was a memory like card installed in SLOT 2 and not formattedStarted up but did not go to the boot order, so left it the same

Adding SSD 2.5" to laptop - Connector slot is taken to power a fan

Hi, I have a Lenovo L340 (17" model) brand new laptop purchased from Very.co.uk around 9 months ago. I purchased this laptop on the assumption that I would be able to add an additional SSD in the standard 2.5" SSD slot which is present in the laptop.

Unfortunately I have found out that the SSD slot inside the laptop does not come connectors included for adding the SSD.

More importantly the slot which would be used for plugging in the 2.5" SSD is taken and powering the laptop internal fans. Please see photos at the links below:

May there be a solution for me being able to add the additional SSD whilst powering the fan? This is the laptop model LENOVO L340 17". Many thanks, your support and advice is greatly appreciated.

 

Added a Samsung SSD to my PC ... new drive not showing in 'Devices and Drives' under 'This PC'

I recently added a Samsung SSD to my PC (Mapped to M ... new drive not showing in 'Devices and Drives' under 'This PC'. My boot / system drive is on a NVMe and I have four (4) other 2.5" SSDs. Under This PC ... I can see 3 of the SSDs, but not the fourth.

It is there in Device Manager.

It is there in Disk Management.

It is there is I open a command prompt and CD to the M: drive.

I can get there by typing M: in the 'command bar' on File Explorer.

I can copy files to and from this drive

Why isn't it there in This PC?

I've go 4 SSD drives in my system without issue. This is on a Gigabyte Z270X board. Configuration is as follows

1) - Samsung 950 Pro (512gig) NVMe drive connected to the second m.2 port
2) - Samsung 850 Pro (512 gig) drive connected a SATA port
3) - Samsung 850 EVO (1TB) drive connect to a SATA port
4) - Samsung 850 EVO (2TB) drive connected to SATA Pot

By using the second m.2 port on my motherboard I'm not losing or sharing any of my 6 SATA ports so all drives run without issue. If you've still got SATA ports usable use those first.
