Windows 10: I am having trouble click left mouse and selecting text

I am trying to select text in documents and web pages. When I use the left click hold function on my mouse, the highlighted text does not remain highlighted. It takes my MULTIPLE attempts for it to select it. Windows 11 PRO: Dell Inspiron Computer IntelR CoreTM i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30 GHz;

Mouse not selecting text properly

When editing documents, I need to select and comment on word, sentence, fragment, paragraph, make format changes (fonts, indentation etc.) copy between documents but my mouse looses selection, so I have to work around with keyboard selection. After I select text with keyboard shortcuts, clicking note with mouse or font options from menu works. All the trouble started after I moved from office desktop apps to cloud. Could some Microsoft employee expert comment on this issue, asked by hundreds of users in different forums and threads. I have tried multiple recommendations. Different mouse, tried disable Ease of Access settings. These settings might be related to the issue, because I do use some of these Ease of Access settings to make mouse pointer larger, and I have noticed, that I have two cursor location at once when writing this text, one is about 10 cm detached from the text, located above, another is at the text input location. It sometimes helps to select not from left to right, but from right to left. Change of mouse pointer size to 1 and Change pointer type helps only just once, after a few seconds a detached cursor in pink color appears about 10 cm above and follows my typing. I am not using shadow cursor.
Please provide any hints. I am on current Windows 10 and have always updated. This issue is persistent.

 

Left Mouse Button Selects but stays stuck you have to click again to end the selection

I recently updated two of my systems and now both computers have the same issues.

All drivers are updated and selections are at default.

When you select say any text click left mouse button to start our selection the select stays stuck you can release the mouse and where ever you are dragging the mouse right left up down continues to select, releasing the button doesn't stop the deselect
you must left mouse click again to deselect.

Don't know what to do to fix this issue and it's now happening on 2 computers.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to adjust the mouse speed and check if that helps to resolve the issue.

• Type mouse on the search bar and select Mouse and touchpad settings.
• Select Additional Mouse Settings.
• Select Pointer Options and adjust the mouse speed under Motion.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Hardware and Devices.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

6. Check if issue persists.
