Windows 10: I am not able to use microphone to talk with cortana and not even on keyboard

I have purchased Microsoft surface go. But not able to speak to cortana

Have to click on Microphone every time I talk to Cortana

No, follow these steps and you'll be able to talk to Cortana by say "hey Cortana!"

step 1: Goto Settings

step 2: click on the "Cortana" Option

step 3: click the option that says, "Talk to Cortana" (this option is normally selected by default).

step 4: Under the "Hey Cortana" heading, switch on the option that says: Let Cortana respond to "Hey Cortana"

 

Cortana Microphone headset problems.

I understand your concern. I suggest you to follow the steps:

• Open settings by clicking thee windows icon the click settings.
• Search Sound in the top right corner and click it.
• Then right click the one device you want to use, then click default communication device.
• Then try Cortana.

As you've already set up microphone but I would suggest you to check again by typing microphone set up and go through that, it should set everything up for you.

cortana won`t talk to me

• Check and verify if Cortana is activated?
• Does Cortana search and gives any output/result on screen?
• Is the Language and region settings set to valid value?
• Check and verify if Cortana available in your region?

Method 1:

I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check if she talks. Refer to the steps below to turn Off and On Cortana:

• Open Cortana.
• Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
• Go to Settings and click on off.
• Follow the same steps to turn it on.
• Check if issue persists.
