I checked compatibility, did the Health Check and feed up disk space so I had 24GB space. I restarted the computer and ran the install. It downloaded and proceeded to the Install but stopped at 83% and gave a message, " Select Try Again" and if that does not work , contact Microsoft Support for Help Error Code 0x8031004a. What do I do now - Under support I cannot find anything that addresses this.

    :)

Boot Surface Laptop to USB - no Volume button

Hello Jimmy, I am trying to upgrade my Surface to Windows 11- stuck with "cannot tell is enough storage... :)

This doesn't list the "Surface Laptop", but you might give it a try to see.

*Arrow Boot Microsoft Surface from a USB device

Otherwise, you should be able to use OPTION ONE below to boot from the USB from advanced startup.

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?

Stuck at OneDrive screen during Surface Pro 6 initial setup

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    Try the below suggested steps.

    Method 1

    1. Unplug all the external devices except Mouse and Keyboard.
    2. Try to reboot the device and check the status of the issue.
    Method 2

I would suggest you to perform Power drain by following the suggested steps.

    1. Press and hold the Power Button down for 30-40 seconds.
    2. Hold the Volume Rocker up and Power ON for almost 20 second.
    3. Release the power button and wait for next 10-15 seconds.
    4. Press the power button to turn on your Surface and check the status of the issue.

    Hope it helps.
