Windows 10: I can not reinstall a game DVD after the latest update last night

Last night, there was a major update to my laptop; the new build was 18363.1316 for Windows 10. It wiped out all of the applications on my desktop. I tried to reinstall the game DVD, and I received the following message:

Error opening file for writing. C:\Program Files(x86) Common Files\Datalode\Encore\Hoyle Puzzle Game 2010\dicomp.dll

The game worked fine yesterday before the update. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can give me.

DVD Games Will not install.

For us to better assist you with the issue on your DVD drive, we'd like to ask a few questions.

• Have you made any changes or updates on your computer before experiencing this issue?
• Have you tried using other computers or external DVD drives, to check if it reads the DVD game?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

1. Have you tried to install the game a second time? The first time could have been a glitch.

2. Have you checked the DVD surface is clean with no scratches?

3. Your Windows 10 OS is build 18363? This is still not the latest so have you checked all your laptop drivers for being up-to-date? Out-of-date drivers and BIOS can stop your system being updated to the latest version 20H2, build 19042. Windows 'Update & Security' should show a 'View optional updates' link which should show any driver updates available so you can install from there. The BIOS, however may need to be updated via your computer manufacturer's website. Both DELL and HP systems have a 'Support Assistant' which you can use to check for updates and install them from there. Maybe your computer has such an assistant?
