Windows 10: I cannot save directly into a folder

The problem that I am facing, is that I cannot save directly into a folder from an application. Whether that may be Microsoft Word, my printer scanning utility or other applications. However, I can save the file to my desktop, documents, downloads, etc. and then copy and paste the file into that folder. Also, to note, that I cannot rename a file if it is in that folder. It is not one type of file ether, it will not save into the folder if it is any type of file. I am experiencing this problem on an external drive, and other folders on that drive work fine.I have already tried running chkdisk a

  How are you accessing emails through web browser or through a mail client (mail app, outlook 2010/2013)?

  Are you trying to save the email attached file? Please elaborate.
  

If you are using Outlook email, let’s try simple steps and check if it helps. Try the below steps provided.

Step 1.

If you want to save only the attached file from the email, try the below step.

• 
  Right click on the attached file and click on Save as.
  
• 
  Now select a folder location where you want to save the attached file.
  

Step 2.

If you want to save the file along with the email try the below steps provided.

• 
  Open the mail you want to save and click on File on the top of the right side.
  
• 
  Click on Save As and select a folder location where you want to save the email.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm opening up an attachment from a google account. When I right click I don't have the 'save as' option also I did not have that option when I checked the 'file' either...

Please advise.

Saving directly to Microsoft OneDrive from Word

Whenever I try to save a document in Word, the default on the left is something called "One Drive-Personal" which buries the document somewhere in Users. When I try to email out my document, neither Gmail not Outlook never seems to be able to find the document
quickly in a search (and no I don't want to switch to Outlook, thanks).

I've found it's a lot easier to save the file directly to One Drive on the Cloud. I can do this in a couple of steps, by opening up Browse from Save and then saving it directly on the location. However, whenever I try to add this location to "Save As" through
"Add a Place", it won't let me. It asks me to sign in and then shows me recent save locations - but all of them are through that annoying "One Drive - Personal" that takes me through the Users folder. Does anyone know how to circumvent this and create a quicksave
option directly to the actual One Drive, on the cloud? Thanks!
