I can't get my "backup and restore window 7" to find the restore file

I needed to send in my computer for repairs, so I backed up my windows 11 computer by creating a system repair disc on an external hard drive through the "backup and restore windows 7" function under System and Security. I now have the computer back and wiped of all its previous content, so I tried to restore the back up using the same system and it says that Windows could not find a backup for this computer. I clicked "Select another backup to restore files from" and it still could not find the backup. My backup is on an external USB drive, but clicking on "Refresh" still doesn't find the f

  2. Windows 7 backup

Haven't used it but sounds like it based on Backup and Restore Center info found here. Says you can choose what files and folders if you want and also mentions a system image. Quicken has it's own backup option under one of the menus, use that too. I have for my mom and it's a breeze. Just reinstall app and use Restore in Quicken.

    Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.

    Windows 7 backup & restore

And please note, "Rottweiler guesses that Backup and Restore (Windows 7) will remain in Windows until upgrades from Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are no longer permitted" statement is not based on facts.

Backup and Restore (Windows 7) function was removed and discontinued in Windows 8. The Control Panel applet used by Backup and Restore was renamed to Windows 7 File Recovery.

But this function re-appeared in Windows 8.1 with a same name and can be found in Control Panel even in latest Windows 11 builds and is fully functional and supported.

However Microsoft hides this applet in Windows 11 and suggests to use online backup to OneDrive.
