Windows 10: I can't get my monitor working right

I bought an Asus X550CA used, the monitor it shows in my device manager says Generic PnP I have tried to update the driver but it only gives a driver for generic PnP. I am supposed to have touch screen capability but I can't use it because the controls aren't there for it since it shows a generic monitor. the laptop has windows 10 home on it but the sticker on the back says windows 8. i'm guessing someone upgraded it. can anyone help me to figure out how to get it working right?

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.
