Windows 10: I can't open a word document in the browser, whenever I open it, does it open the word,...

When I select to open any document in the browser or I drag the file to the browser, it downloads the document and does not open at all in the browser.

I have the same problem with chrome, firefox and edge chrominum

I want to open the document in the document viewer of the browser preferably on the edge chrominum because I want to use the narrator out loud to hear the document and the voice bed of the word itself the voice is very mechanical in my native language.

Do you get an error when trying to open Word documents, and if so, is that for all documents and what is printed on that error?

Can you open Word form its application icon, and if so, if you go to File - Open, can you open a Word document form there, rather than double clicking a Word document?

As an initial step, follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features

Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications

At the top, click 'Change'

On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the Online Repair, it is a comprehensive fix

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .

opening word documents

My laptop will not open current saved documents in word on desktop. A window opens and goes to reconfigure, then asks if I want to reboot. After reboot the same thing happens when I try to open a word document. This happens with all of word documents on
desktop. However, word documents open with no problem through my email.

I thought I had Windows 10 but on my programs list I also see Windows 2016.

Any ideas?

 

can not open word document

I just upgraded office 2007 to office 2016. On all of my fils that I made with my older version can be opened with 2016. But if I create a new document with Word 2016 and save it, when I try to open it a message pops up telling me that this is valid only with installed products. When I open it, I do have the option to "open with". I can choose 2016 and it opens. When the option "open with" comes up I would think that there would be another choice that says "always" open with but it doesn't. So nest time I have to go through the same steps to open it.This happens only with Word but not Excel. My OS is windows 10.
