    I can't run .exe files.


    Hi there! Recently, I was not able to run .exe files.
    For some reason, windows defender found svchost.exe as a virus, so I deleted it. This instantly closed all exe files I had running and closed task manager (which I cannot open anymore). I am very worried as there are many things I need to do.
    Also, every time I want to open an .exe file, it says to find a new app to open exe files.

    Is there any way to open exe files again? Many thanks in advance.
    Edit: Now, trying to run any files in the taskbar comes up with "C:\Users\crist\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\(PROGRAM NAME".Ink
    Application not found."
    I'm starting to get really worried now.

    I can't run .exe files.

    Cannot run .exe files

    I rebooted my computer and it downloaded some updates. When it restarted, I could no longer run any .exe files. When I click on one, it asks me which program I would like to use to run it. Obviously, there are no programs on the list it offers me. The
    weirdest part is that some downloaded applications (like chrome, thankfully) still run. Any suggestions on how I can fix this or what happened?
