Windows 10: I can’t update KB5023696??

3/2023 I can’t update KB5023696?? My Build 22h2 19045.2251 2/19/2021 I successfully installed net frame work 3.5 on 3/15 after many tries. Night of the 3/16/23 I set up windows update out of regular hours when firewall was disabled. failed 3/17/23 I have search for error code 0x800f0922 for update KB5023696 Security In programs I went to windows features off/ on. Net 3.5 check Expand it and selected two options Cleaned out old files on c drive, Checked Frame 3.5 and started services Pw shell >sfc /cscannow Some things worked others didn’t I went to MS update catalogue. Downloaded a

Downloaded and tried to install the security update. From the catalogue there was a download and install very slow which is ok. I have done all of the recommended user fixes. I did the list of command prompt stop bits start bits below, the flush the DNS cache. Open an elevated command prompt(with admin) and copy paste these : • net stop wuauserv • net stop bits • rename c:windowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak • net start wuauserv • net start bits Then restart your PC and check for updates. This failed I retried three times today on the update above. I have run out of pauses. I have not tried the registry one it seemed to complicated and may not be the fix. I did command prompt file cleaners last month. Not sure if I got the delivery optimization right. I have it turned off right now. Should I use one of those old stops update programs? I have had update problems since December 2022 update. I updated after a lot of work in Feb and March 2023. Everything on my hard drive ssd P5 is clean and tidy but I can’t update this one KB5023696. This is the security update for March 2023. Can I get into an update failures Microsoft help group to help me update when I have an issue? How long is this going to last?

Hi Bas,

The installer failed mainly because the App Readiness service was disabled. Set the service to Automatic, as explained in this article.

Rerun the KB5023696 installer, and let's know how it goes. There are other errors in the log. I hope they're not that fatal. Let's see.
