Was here so I decided I might as well ask...so, yeah, this laptop has had this problem for about a year since I've got it.

Basically neither wired headphone mics, the on board laptop mic realtek I believe, nor bluetooth headset mics appear to work on my laptop. I have tested it out in Discord as well as programs to record like the Windows voice recording one, and verified that none appear to work.

    • Briefly I think the mic worked once in a while every few months, but I'm unsure as to the circumstances. I.e., when I got my new bluetooth headphones I believe it was working and sounding great. I *think* the realtek mic worked once though again not sure it's been too long, sorry
    • When I first got this laptop the speakers didn't work either; I don't remember how exactly I fixed them though I believe it involved changing the drivers...so I wouldn't be surprised if the mic issue had something to do with this
    • I generally use Discord and I thought some issue occured when the webcam was turned on as this can stop me from hearing any audio on bluetooth headphones, but I realized it happens regardless
    • This is really weird but sometimes when I open up programs the mic in use icon pops up in the bottom right bar; I'm not fully sure but sometimes when this happens I think the overall laptop audio stops working and I need to restart it
    • I have all apps enabled to have access to the mic
    • Anyway, I use Windows 10

Tell me if you need more info. At this point I've looked up and researched the issue to no avail and I'm just pretty tired about it.

    :)

    Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

    • In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
    • In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
    • In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab
So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

  3. Can I use any Bluetooth headset on PC? And which drivers would it use?

Hello. I'm tired and annoyed to use wired headsets on PC.
Can I just buy and use any bluetooth headset, even those for runners?
If yes, I always wondered on which audio drivers would it use? The same Realtek driver for wired devices?

And can I have any audio delay in games? I don't want to buy an expensive bt headset, and I've seen a lot of 30-50$ bt headsets on amazon, with good reviews.

Bluetooth headset as a 3.5mm mic?

    Hello everyone.

I got a weird question for ya.

I've tried several BT headsets as microphones for in-game communication, VOIP chat, vent, etc.
I've tried Plantronics M55, M70, Some Bluetooth 4.0 headset with "HD audio" and some old Nokia models, bunch of em with various protocol support, hands-free, A2DP, and various Bluetooth USB dongles 2.0 to 4.0

The problem is, all Bluetooth mics are extremely quiet AND pick up lots of noise (even if they are noise-cancelling). I've been reading threads from all over trying to figure out to make me sound clearer and louder, but the problem presists. I've ruled out hardware issues since ive tried different bt adapters, headsets, etc.

On the other hand, the 3.5mm mic that I have, even the super cheap ones, all sound super loud and clear.

Is there anything else I can possibly try to fix this?

    Cause as the topic states
: the only idea that I have is, and it probably wont work - can I connect some BT to 3.5mm receiver to the mic port, and pair a bt headset to it, so Windows treats it like 3.5mm mic instead of a regular headset? And if I do that, how can I still hear others over the same BT headset if its paired to the adapter/receiver?

I need it to be wireless, 3.5 obviously isnt.

I've checked a bunch of receivers - they all have the same problem, they can't receive and transmit at the same time to emulate a 3.5mm mic.

For now I turned myself up in Vent, so im louder, but it also increases my background noise or something, my room is quiet, on 3.5mm in loud and clear.

Is there a bluetooth headset that guaranteed to be loud and clear? That has extensive mic control in Windows?

    Thanks.
