Windows 10: I cant view my pictures in photo viewer because windows doesnt support jpg ans i cant put...

I am trying to set up my new computer and I am trying to put my own pictures as the lockscreen and destop home screen. To try to do this, first I emailed some pictures from my iPhone to myself. Then I opened my email online on my laptop and downloaded them to Photos. I then went into settings, personalization, background. I selected 'photos' for the background and clicked 'Browse' just below it, so I could put my own pictures there instead of Windows' pictures. Then after I click browse, I find my picture and I click, Choose Photo, or whatever the confirmation button says. Only then, nothing happens. If I try to go into my files and simply view my pictures in photo viewer it says that windows doesn't support them as jpgs or something. I don't know what to do and why it wont recognize my pictures.

How to get rid of raw file support in windows photo viewer?






I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.

• Did you check if Windows Photo Viewer is present as a Default application to view photos on your PC?

I suggest you to check if Windows Photo Viewer option is present as a default application to view photos by following steps below:

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Default programs and select the top most search result.
• Click on the default set photo viewer application under Photo viewer and check if
  Windows Photo Viewer is present under Choose an app window.
• If yes, click on Windows Photo Viewer, close the window and check if the changes are effective.

How to get rid of raw file support in windows photo viewer?

OK I got this fully working.

To view only .jpg files in folder containing jpg and camera raw

1. In File Explorer, navigate to folder containing photos that you wish to view.
2. In File Explorer, type *.jpg in the search box. You will then see all your jpeg's with the camera raw files absent.
3. Click on any file in the search results, to start Photo Viewer.

To view only camera raw (.cr2) files in a folder containing jpg and camera raw

1. In File Explorer, navigate to folder containing photos that you wish to view.
2. In File Explorer, type *.cr2 in the search box. You will then see all your camera raw files with the jpeg files absent.
3. Click on any file in the search results, to start Photo Viewer.

It really is that simple. No registry edits needed. *chuckle
