Hello, i got a 4k TV, Yamha rx-v681 receiver, i5-3570 processor and GTX 1070 ti GPU.
I find the best player for 4k HDR to be the Windows Movies & TV , but when I play 4k HDR HEVC files , it just doesnt work properly.
I read on forums and reddit that this version of the codec uses hardware acceleration, but it doesnt work for me.

I got the latest Nvidia drivers version 417.35 . I got the codecs HEVC Video extensions from device manufacturer , but when I open a file , lets say

Venom 2018.MULTi.UHD.2160p.BluRay.x265.HDR.Atmos.7.1-DTOne.mkv it doesnt work great.
Any idea whats the problem ?

    :)

HEVC video files play black in windows 10 pro

    Hi

I'm trying to play HEVC videos in 4k 60fps filmed with GoPro6 but, despite I can hear the sound, I can't see anything. Everything is black.

    My system setup:

    Windows 10 pro 64bit

    Intel Core i5-6400 2.7Ghz

    RAM 16Gb

    GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I have just downloaded the HEVC Video Extension from this link but still don't work:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/hevc-video-extension/9n4wgh0z6vhq

Is there something in my system that is not able to play HEVC? May someone help?

    Thanks!!

58 Error dialogs from app when HEVC Video Extension Window Store codec is installed.

    Hi Kraig,

The ability of your device hardware may be the determining factor here, for example, here is the statement from the MS store app page:

The HEVC Video Extension enables compatible Windows 10 devices to play video using the HEVC format in any app, including 4K and Ultra HD content. Compatible devices support HEVC in hardware, including Intel 7th Generation Core processors and other
modern GPUs. If you are not using a compatible device, this extension will have no effect on your Windows 10 video experience.

Therefore, I suggest that you next should check the device manufactures support website for compatibility info and/or update's offered that may apply to the compatibility thereof.

If you need more help with this in determining if your hardware will support the 4K and/or ultra HD video codec (extension) format then reply back with the full detailed description of the make and model (including the tag#, serial#, etc.) and we will help
you as best we can in determining the compatibility of your device.

We'll be waiting for your next reply.

    Good Luck,

    -Richard
