    I Got Bricked! Windows 10 1809 Patch on 10/10/2018


    This is a short story about a short problem. I installed Windows 10 1089 without a problem. I had a glorious one week of using it; then I received a patch this morning from Windows Update.... and my computer hasn't booted since. I get a black screen during boot that freezes. Sometimes the little circle actually moves at the boot's process but that too may freeze.


    I already tried rolling back the update. That seemed "successful" (in terms of it actually completing its work) but my situation hasn't changed.


    Well, Microsoft, what's my recourse? Now I have no usable PC.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
