Windows 10: I have 32GB of RAM. My computer only recognizes 16GB of it.

I'm running Windows 10, version 1903 (OS Build 18362.592), and have four 8GB sticks of RAM installed.

My computer has been working well for years.
Today, while using the computer, it crashed, giving the 'Memory Manager' error code. I reseated my RAM, and it seemed to have fixed the issue. Then it crashed again, giving me a 'Kernel Data Inpage Error.' After reading up on some forums, I ran the Memory Diagnostic Tool - no errors detected. Finally, I checked my BIOS and was told that I had 16GB of RAM installed, despite having 32GB.

I've tested each stick individually, and all of them show 4GB when they're 8GB sticks of RAM.

I've scanned multiple forum threads on different sites, and the common solution is to check msconfig and uncheck the 'maximum memory' option in the 'Boot' tab. Upon trying that, the box was already unchecked, and after checking the box, restarting, unchecking the box, and restarting again, I still only have 16GB.

I've spent hours on this issue, trying every individual stick of ram in each of the 4 slots, and nothing has worked.

Is there something I'm missing? Have I been cursed by the gods?

My M5a99x Wont Recognize more than 16gb of Ram

My motherboard the Asus M5a99x Evo R2.0 will not recognize more that 16GB of ram in it. I currently have 24GB in it but in the bios it also only shows 16GB. I have the bios updated. Anyone know the issue? The motherboard should be able to support up to 32GB.
I also swapped the ram around ports, used different ram, it still doesn't seem to use anymore than 16gb.

 

Upgrading RAM to 12GB or 16GB?

Hi everyone:

I have this machine:

Intel DB75EN...........it has 8GB of DDR3 RAM..... it's an older i5-2400 at 3ghz.

I acidentally (nice) discovered there's still a chance to improve RAM...I can't buy or afford a newer PC.

Amazon has Crucial DDR3 and they fit my machine in the specs checker they have.

I recently added an Crucial SSD and have Windows 10 installed there. It boots better and folders open faster than the HDD.

However, apps aren't faster at all. Just Windows.

The machine has 2 sticks of 4GB installed which make the 8GB. Going from 8GB to 12GB........will it make a difference?

Or it's better to go to 16GB?.

If I could I would to go to 32GB.......the machine specs says it supports up to 32GB RAM (however I can't afford it), since they're DDR3, they are older and are NOT cheap. I can only afford up to 16GB.

Should I make the effort to get 16GB or will 12GB be good?

I have windows 10 home 64 bit...i upgraded from 16gb of ram to 32gb of ram....when i check to see if my ram is recognized it says i have 32gb installed and 23.2 usable...how do i make all 32gb usable?
