Windows 10: I have a bunch of programs that won't open due to error 0xc0000142

I've restarted a bunch of times. First it starts by saying NET.exe failed to start due to above error.

Some people reccomend using command prompt to find something to fix it, but that won't open due to the error.

This started on Saturday, and I'd ignored it because it didn't seem to be an issue, I tried to use RStudio and now that wont start for this same error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Error 0xc0000142

Hi,

Error 0xc0000142 could mean that the software you have downloaded might not be compatible with Windows 10. We suggest that you try running the program in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Here's how:

• Right-click on the program, and then select Properties.
  
• In the Properties window, go to the Compatibility
  tab.
• Under Compatibility mode, tick the check box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and then choose an older version of Windows.

If the issue persists, try reinstalling the program or check the developer for any updates for the software.

Windows 10 won´t start any program as Administrator

Hello. I´m having this issue since installed one of the latest Windows 10 system updates.

When I try to open any program that requires Administrator confirmation (that screen with the Yes/No question), this dialog won´t appear anymore. The screen background stays darkened and nothing happens.

1. Using Windows 10 Home (x64)
2. My microsoft user account is properly checked
3. I´m the administrator of the PC
4. Already tried do create another administrator user account - same problem, no success
5. Cannot start any program/service that requires administrator authorization (not even regedit)

Please help!
