Windows 10: I have a cd/dvd external driver that i cant install

I cant install my new cd/dvd external drive

Hi Microsoft :

I recently purchased an external cd/dvd drive. The problem is with re-writeable CDs. FORMATTING and re-writing. The unit works with re-writeable DVDs (FORMATTING and re-writing. When I checked in DEVICE MANAGER, it lists the drive with the HP brand. Listing it as "hp cd/dvd W SN208FB". Even though the brand name on the drive is Roofull (I got it on Amazon). [Even though SOME USB devices don"t need a driver----some do]

My System : Dell Latitude 7490 laptop......Windows 10 Pr0 64-bit.....16Gb RAM....512Gb SSD.

Should I look into finding an HP driver for this cd/dvd burner ?

I do understand your query however I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it resolves the issue.

Method 1:Run
Hardware Troubleshooter
and see if it helps to resolve the issue. Please follow the below steps.

• 
  Type Troubleshooting
  in the search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting
  tab.
  
• 
  Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
  
• 
  Select the Hardware and Device
  options from the list.
  
• 
  Click Next to run the
  Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: I would suggest you to set the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps. Setting the system in a clean boot state will help to identify if any third party applications/drivers or startup
items are causing the issue.

Method 3:Update the CD/DVD drive drivers.
