Windows 10: I have Error Code 0xc0000017 on Update and now I’m stuck.

I have a HP pavilion G6 i5 laptop that came with Win 7 but I upgraded to Win 10 and it hasn’t run smoothly since.

Yesterday, I managed to update to the latest version (I assume) but have no back ups available.

On start up when I could log in to windows I got a small dialogue box in the top left corner saying Personalised Settings and then noting. Ctrl + alt + Del wouldn’t bring up task manager to close so would have to turn off via on/off button.

I cannot get into Windows to achieve anything.

I do have an old pc running XP if there’s anything I can do like make a usb drive to help etc.

What I can do to fix this? Thanks
