Windows 10: I Have My Doubts On Windows 10

Unlike you, I have no doubts whatsoever.... that you appear to be a troll, trying to rile people up.

 

I've had the technical preview on my system as my primary OS since build 9926, I haven't had a single issue regarding stability. I haven't even touched my overclock (4.4 GHz on a low end board) since installing all these updates, yet have still been 100% stable. I'd guess that many of the issues stability wise are due to system stability (or lack there of), not OS stability.

I think that was a well thought out statement to make - knowing it would attract people to question your line of thinking.

And from me too...

 

I'm not here to get anyone riled up, and only here to read what others say or get answers to their questions. When some (Microsoft) get on the web and start telling people this can is a "free" item at no cost, one would have to think... where is this person/company coming from? No one gives anything free today... there is some "hidden" cost to follow, and it will not be in your favor.

BTW. You, I and all the others that get on the Internet are considered trolls, and the real term means your are trolling the web.
Now you know the rest of the story.

 

In this case.. free is free .. but you do have to exchange the license to Win7 or WIn8.1 to get Win10. Now to address the why.. because MS wants to get as many people/users off of Win7/Win8.1 and onto the new OS so they can reduce the cost of support for the two older OS's. That's how the benefit comes in for them in the long run.

There is no hidden cost.. all updates will be free for the life of the device that OS is on. That simple..

And to just put the cherry on this, it's odd that someone just drops in and starts complaining about an OS they've never tried out one time. Like I mentioned in a previous post.. try it out before you just take someone else's word for what to think about Win10. IT is a rather good OS. Again IMO.

 

Just received a new HP Compaq with Win 7 Pro 64-bit. i7 3.60 ghz, 500gb SSHD, 4000 mg memory and waiting to install WIn10...when Microsoft gives the word. And I'm a skeptic person...burn once teaches you to avoid the snake oil salesmen.

 

I fully understand how you feel and I think that giving a test shot at WIn10 will give you an idea of how it works, etc. Running it in a VM is a good way to go and it will have the least impact on your PC.

The new HP with Win7 Pro was purchased just for upcoming Windows 10. I have two other HP Pc's. One with XP Pro, and a HP with Win 7 Pro 32/64 bit.
In one email from Microsoft suggested I install the Windows 10 builds on a separate PC just in case there would be some crashes. I think Microsoft gave a fair warning to all for that reason.

 

They were doing that way back in the Windows 8 beta testing days. Those who didn't heed the warning, were soon to come on the old Windows 8 forum wanting to know how to get their Windows 7 back. Well, as MS had warned, there was NO return path.
Except, of course, to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch, or from a backup image file, which 99.99999% of people don't have.

I have two laptops here, just for OS testing. I test the X86 versions on an old Dell Laptop, and the X64 versions on a newer HP Laptop. But before I install a new OS version, I backup the existing version, just in case I have to go back.

Twice now, testing Windows 10, I've done a clean install and had problems with the OS, so another CLEAN install fixed it.
I'm thinking that the installer is in Beta too, and doesn't always get it right.

My main, desktop, PC is too valuable to me, to do any beta testing on it. That's my IBM (important business machine).
