    I have two accounts on boot up, local and MS. I want to delete one.

    I have looked at various solutions for this, but none address my problem.

    When I boot to Win10, it ALWAYS tells me the password is wrong and I have to type in my password. It doesn't give me the option to use my PIN. It also shows two accounts in the lower left, my MS account and my local account.

    I want two things to happen: The first is, I should not have to choose one of two different accounts. They're both basically the same. Not only that, but looking in a variety of places including the Users section of the Control Panel (which is woefully anemic compared to Win 7) or Computer Management or via netplwiz. It only shows one account for me, not the obviously separate local and MS accounts it wants me to choose to login with. I've even changed my password to try to fix this to no avail.

    The second is that I want to login without having to type in my password or PIN as I am the sole user of this computer and nobody has access to it, unless somebody breaks into my apartment just to use my computer, an unlikely scenario.

    So there you have it.

    :)

    Hi,

    We need to clarify something regarding your concern with deleting your account. Are you trying to remove it from your computer or are you planning to permanently close one of your accounts?

    We look forward to your response.

    I have two accounts on boot up, local and MS. I want to delete one.

    I had this same thing happen after renaming my computer. I could find no way to get rid of the second account. It was not listed in accounts or in netplwiz. Very frustrating and obviously some kind of bug. Seems like I tried everything and no joy. I finally restored using an Acronis backup. It would be nice to find an answer to this. I'd like to rename my computers.

  6. It seems this is an annoying glitch that does crop up if you've just renamed your computer, to sort it out you have to do the usual Windows 10 thing of ticking and unticking to reset auto logon properly;
    Run netplwiz
    TICK the box "Users must enter a username and password..." (Yes, do tick this now, you'll untick it later)
    Select the username for your account that is part of HomeUsers; Administrators; Users (not the account that is only in the HomeUsers group)
    Then go back and UNTICK the box "Users must enter a username and password..."
    Then click OK and enter your password in the dialogue box that pops up.

    You might need to set your wake-up action too;
    Go to; Control Panel> System and Security> Power Options> Change what the power buttons do
    Then under 'Password protection on wake up' select 'Don't require a password' (if this option is greyed out then to make it available click on the Blue and yellow shield/ link at the top of the page that says; 'Change settings that are currently unavailable')

    And everything should be back to normal.
