Windows 10: I have Windows 10 Home sharing files with myself

I have Windows 10 Home , which I set up long ago using Advanced Sharing rather than HomeGroup. I share files with myself when I use my laptop also Windows 10 Home. When I access the computer with the shared files, it asks for my password. That password is not my Microsoft account password but a less secure password I set up long ago perhaps my local password. I want to change that password to one that is more secure. Despite searching, I cannot find how to do that. In particular, User Accounts has no way of changing my password nor does user account control settings or Advanced Sharing Settings. I have also gone through all options in Device Security, Family, and my Microsoft account online.


Does anyone know how I can do this?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Set Up File Sharing on a Windows 10 PC

Hi Brink great tutorial as usual.

I could not help but notice in step 1 you say to enable " Function Discovery Resource Publication "

In most of the posts I have read on Ten Forums they also suggest to enable " Function Discovery Provider Host "

Are you suggesting that Function Discovery Provider Host is not necessary.
