I keep getting extra users on my sign on screen

Somehow I end up with extra user names on the start up screen where I sign in with my MS account. I created a local account as administrator, I have my MS account as administrator & I created an account for my husband as administrator. However when the sign on screen comes up there are 2 other users on there. The other problem pertaining to this is that in File Explorer my User Folder is MKJ30. It shows as MKFJ in command prompt when I bring up net users. There vs no mkj30. In netplwiz the MKFJ shows up as my user name for my MS Account. I am getrting 2 sets of documents, pictures, etc under user name mkj30 in file explorer. Please can someone tell me how to staighten this out? MKFJ is not showing in File Explorer at all.
These are the registry profiles & Commands listed:
    · HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-167232832-3143864985-2464545401-1003 (My husband rdj1048)

  2. I keep getting extra memory (randomly) on my Local Disk (CI keep getting extra users on my sign on screen :) drive (SSD)

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are facing some issues using Windows 10.

This might have occurred due to some third party application conflicts.

    Try the methods.

    Method 1:

Perform clean boot to avoid any third party software conflict.

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

    Method 2:

Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. It will scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows. To run the SFC scan,
refer to the Microsoft article below.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other assistance with Windows in future. We will be happy to assist you.

I keep getting extra users on my sign on screen

List the names you see on the log-in screen and in C:\Users (use un-hidden view). Your 'wmic useraccount get name, fullname' command brings up normal list but I also have a defaultuser0 between DefaultAccount and Guest
Also, reg entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList should only show the 3 accounts you created. Not sure what the other profiles, like .NET ones point to.
Are the 2 sets of This PC folders under 'mkj30' duplicates or different from each. I take it 'mkj30' is your Local Account name ?

Thank you for your reply. The user names on my sign in screen are: Mary Johnson m*****@outlook.com, - local account, Administrator, Robert Johnson -r******@hotmail.com.
The double folders under MKJ30 seem to be duplicates. I have no user name in File Explorer of MKFJ which is the user name that shows up in command prompt & in netplwiz as the user name for my outlook account. I have np idea what those others are in the registry either. I only created my local account of , my outlook account & my husband's hotmail account. Is there some way to create the MKFJ in file explorer & make sure it is linked to my outlook account? Once done should I delete those other users including MKJ30? How would I accomplish this? Also do you know why this is happening? Is there something I am doing wrong?

The user names on my sign in screen are:
    Mary Johnson m*****@outlook.com
    mkj307 - local account Administrator
    Robert Johnson -r******@hotmail.com.

These are the normal 3 that should show up in lower L corner of log-in screen and with netplwizcommand. Then a User can select his and enter password. From post 1, I thought you had some others, in addition to these. If not, you're OK

"I only created my local account of mkj307, my outlook account & my husband's hotmail account. Is there some way to create the MKFJ in file explorer & make sure it is linked to my outlook account? "

I'm guessing that when you created the Local Acct Admin, you used mkj307 to distinguish from MKJF30 on the outlook account. What that did was to create a new profile and set of folders under This PC using the new name. Am I correct in assuming that the Local Admin has all the same files and settings as the primary acct and was set up as a backup in case you forget your outlook password ? If so, and you want only MKFJ, the easiest thing to do is just set up a Local Account with the same name as your primary account, not a different one.

Create a restore point just to be safe and make sure all your This PC folders are backed up. Now, sign in using your Outlook/MKFJ to delete the mkj307 Local Account by using 'Control Panel\User Accounts/Manage another account/Remove' and confirm to delete all of that user's files (mkj307). Restart which should clear out the reg entries for the removed user.

Create a new Local Account thru 'Action Center\All settings\Accounts/Your info/Sign in with a local account instead/Current password' and enter same user name as primary. Either leave password blank or make up a new one and write it down temporarily. Give it admin privileges if you want to use it to sign in with no OneDrive syncing or as a outlook password forget backup or use default Standard User, if you want to prevent virus or malware by using it like a guest acct. On the Local Account, you will have the option to sign in with MS acct instead which returns you to primary acct at any time.

Under C:\Users, you should now have only your and your husband's acct and Public and under This PC on your sign in, only MKFJ. In the registry, you should only have the -10** and -500 Admin Profile entries.

You may be able to get rid of the .NET related entries, which just be leftover from an update, using CCleaner or by running a MS repair tool available here, near top 1/4 of page - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...l-is-available

If still there and unless you use .NET as a developer, r-click & export all the ones you want to remove into a new folder on desktop (in case they need to be re-merged later), then delete them. Test system for a week and then you can safely delete the folder. Or just leave the .NET profile reg entries, they're not hurting anything. Good Luck.
