Windows 10: I keep getting this error when trying to open pictures, can only open in Paint

Every time I try to open a picture I get this error. Any way to fix?

• Right click on the picture.
• Click on open with.
• Select paint.
• You will be able to see the picture in paint.

Can't open pictures

However, please let us know:

• May I know the default application that is set to open pictures?
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer?

It could be possible that the application set to open pictures is not working properly. If Photos app is set as the default application to open
pictures, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.

Paint won't open pictures error "Access to C:\WINDOWS\System32\H was denied"

Hello Sangeeta,

I applied the steps you described in your first reply on D:\ (where i put some pictures to test)

This time I was able to perform all steps as you described, but it didn't help. Still getting the same error message in Paint when i try to open a picture from D:\

Have you got any other idea maybe?
