Windows 10: I keep on getting error "USB device not recognized"

When I am using my mouse on my laptop it will say USB device not regonized. But my mouse works fine. And when I change ports it still does the same error message. The time that the "device" stays connected is from a second to 15 seconds. I tried looking up the problem but it was in windows 7. I have tried everything from restarting my device to switching USB ports but it just wont disappear. It also does it then I remove my mouse. Sometimes when I click on the task bar icon it just goes crazy as the time span the device is connect is usually 1-15 seconds goes to less than a second and it does the same thing over and over again for about 15 seconds.


I checked to make sure my device is up to date and it is.


My laptop is a 2019 HP ENVY with intel core i7 10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 2304 MHz, 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors, built in gpuintel, and a 512 GB hard drive.

with 12 GB of ram.

I am facing a problem. Even if I plug in my pen drive into my computer, then my computer is not reading it. I am getting the error message "USB device not recognized"?

You may receive this error if one of your USB connected devices is not properly recognized by the system. Let's try the troubleshooting steps provided by

In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

• Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
• Click on Devices.
