Windows 10: I purchased a key code for windows 10 home, error code 0xc004f050

Hi , i purchased windows 10 home to activate windows on my sons second hand computer on advice from microsoft but now find the above error code when i try to change the code.

I didnt know but the edition of the computer is windows 10 pro. can i still try and use this one , if so how or do i need to try and change it to pro?

I am trying to upgrade win 10 home to pro. When entering the key purchased I get

A replacement key was sent to me but still the same problem.

Can I check if the key is valid or is it a scam
