  1. I really need to be able to access a TrustedInstalled folder

    Hello friends.
I'm writing today seeking the help of someone willing to help me out.

The tl;dr version is I'm denied access to a folder that's currently owned by TrustedInstaller: "You have been denied permission to access this folder. To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab

The full version is I need to be able to access my Microsoft Flight Simulator directory structure to be able to mod, configure and create my own flightplans. In other words, without that access, I won't be able to fully enjoy the software.

Now, I know how to take ownership from a folder. But here is the problem: a simple search on these forums yields many posts against taking ownership of anything owned by TrustedInstaller.

So, am I simply out of luck?

    :)

And rightly so! However, the 'safest' way to proceed is to first take ownership, grant your account (or Administrators) the required permissions, and then return ownership to TrustedInstaller. The name to use when returning ownership is NT Service\TrustedInstaller
