Windows 10: I sign into my computer with a PIN, but recovery is asking for a password

I am trying to run the Windows repair tool from the recovery console, and it asks for my password. I sign in with a PIN, so I put that in. It tells me it is wrong. So I try my Microsoft password. It still says it's wrong. How do I get into the console if it keeps telling my my PIN is wrong? I am the only user on this machine, and the only administrator.

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

  Are you able to login to Windows?
  

I suggest you to again create PIN password and check if the issue persist

Follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Go to all settings.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts, under sign in options.
  
• 
  Select Add PIN and check if the helps.

Want to sign on with PIN instead of Password

Glad to know that the Pop up with the password manager is disabled with the above suggestion.

Try the below suggestions to fix the issue with Signing in using PIN authentication.

Steps 1: Launch the File Explorer.

Step 2: Browse to this location, and delete the contents of the folder.

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC

Step 3: Go to Settings (Press Windows
and I key), Accounts > Sign in Options.

Step 4: Click on Add a PIN and set your PIN.

Step 5: Restart the computer and check the status of the issue.
