Windows 10 Pro - Automatically Turn On Mobile Hotspot And Keep It On

My laptop connects to my WiFI without a problem but my phones can't seem to connect to it probably because of the range. I've set up a mobile hotspot on Windows 10 and I connect both phones to it. The problem is, any time my laptop disconnects and reconnects to the WiFi, the mobile hotspot doesn't turn back on.

I'd like the mobile hotspot to turn on automatically when the laptop is connected to an active WiFi network. I'd like to keep it on at all times, even if there is no activity on the connected devices.

Any app, script, or built-in setting change will do the trick. I'm not picky. I just need it to work.

Your Bluetooth connection may be enabled which prevents you from setting up your mobile hotspot. To have this addressed, we suggest turning off the Bluetooth connection and see if you're able to set up your mobile hotspot. Follow these steps:

• Open Settings and select Devices.
• Click Bluetooth, then toggle it OFF.

Once done, check if you can now turn on your computer's mobile hotspot. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want the Mobile Hotspot to startup automatically when boot the PC.

One of the workaround you can do is creating a batch file to start the hotspot automatically. Kindly, follow the steps mentioned below to create the batch file.

Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.

In Run dialog box, type notepad and hit enter.

Now type in the following command: netsh wlan start hostednetwork //start hotspot

Now click on File and click on Save as.

On the left hand pane click on Desktop.

Under file name type Hotspot.bat and change the save as type to All files.

Click on Save.

Once you save the file on Desktop follow the steps to save it under Startup folder so the batch file runs automatically after a restart.

Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.

In Run dialog box, type Shell:Startup and hit enter.

A new window will be open, drag and drop the Hotspot.bat file to the new window.

Restart the PC.
