Alright so I'll start off with my rig to get that out of the way

I built this computer 4 years ago and I started getting these two errors Event 153 and 129 https://i.imgur.com/plMTDlY.png https://i.imgur.com/QtAIkUZ.png

They completely freeze my HDD and I can't do anything but restart my PC, it mostly happens when I'm gaming and rarely when I'm browsing the internet or whatever else.

    [This user perfectly describes it](https://i.imgur.com/ZTpLB4O.png)

Now let's go on to what I have tried doing to fix this problem :

I have basically done everything I found on the internet, from messing around with the power settings to formatting my entire setup and starting from scratch, NOTHING will fix this error so it has to be some sort of hardware issue right? Not really because :

    - I bought a new HDD because I thought my old one was broken and it was doing that error and guess what, this new one does the same thing as well.

    - I bought two SSD's and yes I'm aware that this error can happen under two SSD's but I've had it since I had one SSD so it's not that either

    - I upgraded my CPU, back when I first got this PC I had an I3 and now even with my i5 this error still happens.

    - I formatted my PC and started from scratch and nope, it still **** happens.

    - I bought a new PSU because I thought my old one was not giving enough power to my HDD and guess what its not that either.

    - I tried a new SATA cable, nope not that either.

In total, you could say that I wasted 200$ AND I STILL DID NOT MANAGE TO FIX THIS ERROR.

One thing to note is that this error always occurs on HDD and never my SSD's, it could be some sort of setting that is doing this? Not really sure but this does make my HDD not willing to work until after a few restarts....

The only thing that would be left is my GPU and my motherboard and frankly, I don't see how my GPU would do a hard drive error so I might end up buying a new motherboard if I don't find a solution for this.

^ The sounds that my HDD makes after getting the error, restarting my PC and waiting for it to boot. I used to think overheating caused this but I cleaned my PC 100 times, I mean the error still happens sometimes when I'm idle lol.

It's very odd how this error occurs, it's not consistent or anything, it's not everyday its occasionally.

NOTE : I've had this issue when I only had my HDD and I replaced that one and it still happens even with the new one, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and the issue turned from Event 129 to 51 as you can see here

Also if I put my PC to sleep when it happens and turn it back on the error seems to go away and my HDD works normally

    :)

Hello! I am an Independent Advisor, I would love to help you out!

This sounds incredibly frustrating - I am sorry this has been happening to you for so long.

You have gone through a lot of replacements and steps already. There are two additional things that I would like to confirm if you have done or not and have you do them if not.

I also do not believe your GPU would be causing this issue.

Have you tried plugging your HDD into a different SATA port on your motherboard? Some SATA ports are much slower speed than others. However, with that being said I would not expect the slower port causing issues like this. But it would not be bad to try. Your
motherboard manual would have information about which SATA ports are the faster ones, usually they are color coated.

The other thing is page file. Have you modified your page file settings at all? That error you took the screenshot of seems to point to the page file, potentially it is too small and maybe the size should be increased. You can do that with the following steps:

To increase Page File size so in Windows, follow these steps:

Right click on This PC and open Properties.

    Select Advanced System Properties

    Click Advanced tab

    Under Performance, click Settings

Under Performance Options, click Advanced tab

Here under Virtual memory pane, select Change

Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives

    Highlight your system drive

    Select Custom size

Change the Initial size value and the Maximum size value to a higher value

    Click Set

Finally, Click Apply/OK all the way.

If you want to send a screenshot of how the settings are currently that would be awesome. And for initial troubleshooting, I would suggest doubling the size of the page file if you can.
