    Icon on screen flashing mic with line through it.


    I suddenly see a microphone icon that is flashing on my screen. I am using a Lenovo laptop. I tried disabling the mic, since I hardly ever used it but that did nothing. It is interfering with my ability to play some games. I do not have an Xbox or other gaming system. This icon keeps flashing on and off. Please help!

    Provide us with the below details for better clarity on the issue.

    • Have you installed all pending updates on the system?
    I suggest you to update your Display drivers and check if the issue is resolved. You can refer the below steps to update the driver software.

    Steps:-

    • Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.
    • Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
    • Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.
    • Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

    USB Mic Problems.

    The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

    The Mic icon is not visible in the Cortana search line. The Mic works OK in Skype

    I have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The Mic icon is not visible in the Cortana search line. The Mic works OK in Skype. Can anybody please help
