Windows 10: Icons periodically show on task bar with new computer

I purchased a new laptop since my other one died. I went the normal routine of adding printers, emails adding my favorite icons to the task bar. They looked fine.


I was working on the computer and noticed they weren't the icons I had added. Thinking maybe I was remembering correctly so I added again.


Same thing happened again.


I've never had this happen on any other computer before so I'm stalled at what to do next. With a new computer, there shouldn't be this problem.

Disappearing task bar icons

To view your update history, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + i to open Settings and then click
  Update & security.
• Under Windows Update, click Advanced options.
• Under ADVANCED OPTIONS, click View your update history.

If the icon is hidden from the task bar, you can enable it by using the following steps. The icon might be hidden. Here's how to show the battery icon:

• Right-click an empty area on the taskbar, and then click
  Properties.
• Under Notification area, click
  Customize.
• In Notification Area Icons, click on Select
  which icons appear on Taskbar.
• On in the drop-down list next to
  Power, and then click OK.

If the issue still persists you can try Updating the latest Power management driver software for Windows 10 from the manufacturer website.

Computer not showing desktop or start icon?

My computer is not showing the desktop icons or the start menu bar... everytime I want to open something i have to use the windows task manager. anyone know why this happens? also when i want to open My Computer properties or something it says I'm missing the RUNDLL32.EXE
