Windows 10: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

So I'm using an HP Envy 700 series and recently updated from windows 8.1 (The OS it came with) to windows 10.. I noticed as soon as I got in that the audio was not working. I tried the regular troubleshooting like trying to re-install the drivers or updating the drivers but I kept getting errors. I tried installing the drivers meant for 8.1 but it would not allow me to use those drivers. The problem is the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC... In device manager it describes that the device is not working properly. When I try to change the drivers to the High Definition Audio Device drivers it doesn't let me use my front audio jack (Normally described as Communication Headphones) or my front microphone jack. I have no Idea how to fix any of this and it seemed to work up until now. Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest you to update the driver and check if the issue persist.

Follow the steps to Update the driver and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X key and click
  Device Manager.
• Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
• Select the Driver tab.
• Click on Update Driver.
• Select the option “browse my computer for driver software”.
• Select the option “let me pick up a list of device drivers on my computer”.
• Select the High Definition Audio Device instead of IDT High Definition" And click next.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Not Working

Taking those steps changed the devices in the playback (now they're "2- High Definition Audio Device" instead of "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC". But unfortunately, I still cannot
hear anything, though it did fix my problem where my microphone would say "Currently unavailable".

I had the same issue on an HP Touchsmart. Fixed it with following:

The key is step 6

1. Device Manager >>> Sound >>>

2. Right click IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

3. Select > Update Driver

4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.

5. Select -> Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.

6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.

Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.

7. Windows has successfully update your driver software.

The key is step 6
