Windows 10: IE 11 ask for Edgegdi.dll when start W10 Build 2004

I have just upgraded my HP Elite X2 G4 to Win10 version 2004. Everything go fine except Internet Explorer 11


Whenever I start IE 11, there will be an error dialog pop up and it read:

The code execution cannot proceed because edgegdi.dll was not found. reinstalling the program may fix this problem

.After I click OK in the error dialog, IE 11 start and run properly. It is quite annoying.


How do I fix this? Help please


I have connected to Microsoft Tech Support using Chat. The agent remote connect to my PC and she see the error. Attempt to start IE in safe mode still have problem caused by Edgegdi.dll. MS Tech support do not know what this Edgegdi.dll


I tested by restore using backup to Win10 1909, then update again to Win10 2004. Thr problem still persist



I try to find out this file Edgegdi.dll but cannot find any information about ity. MS Tech support cannot find reference to Edgegdi.dll as well


Help pleasde. If any one have edgegdi.dll can you please senfd it to me totext ouit. Please also advise me how to install this dll

IE 11 not working

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet Explorer. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Explorer.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel

• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter

It would have been more helpful if you'd told me that the search bar was in the Control Panel. When I finally figured that out, I tried your suggestions, but nothing fixed the problem. The troubleshooter could not even find the problem. In addition, I
tried resetting IE options (as suggested by someone else), but that didn't resolve the problem either.
