Windows 10: If my Windows 10 key is Retail, does that mean it must be 100% transferable?

When i type "slmgr /dli" in CMD, it shows me that my key is Retail. Does that mean my key is transferable and can be used on different computers and laptops to activate Windows 10? I heard that it may not be transferable, even if it's Retail, because there are different versions of Retail keys - some versions are transferable, some aren't. Is this true, or is it 100% guaranteed the key is transferable if it's Retail?

If you upgraded from a retail box copy Windows 7, it has retail transfer rights.

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

 

Transfer os retail key for w10

Good morning.

I have a desktop with a Windows 10 Retail Key.

With a retail key I understand it can be transferred to a new PC having first unregistered it from the current PC.

Am I correct in the above as I am likely to order a new PC without an o/s.
