Windows 10: Illegal State Change error when trying to change Microsoft account on PC

My MS account on my PC Accounts Page is no longer "valid", it's an old account and the password is locked or not working for some other reason. Without this account, I'm not able to do anything that requires me to log in with my MS Windows account. In the "Accounts" settings, it says I need to verify my identity for the account. When I click to verify, I get "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one." When I try to enter my new account which is valid, I get the "An illegal state change was requested" message.The next option on the Accounts page is to

Illegal State Change

Recently changed the alias of my primary email for my microsoft account, can sign in with the new gmail from a browser just fine. However, when attempting to verify my microsoft account under the settings of my laptop I am met with an "illegal state change"
notification and leaves me unable to verify myself on my own laptop. Tried looking everywhere to fix this problem but have had no luck

I was trying to install Your Phone app and set it up, but was stuck at 60% progress. After some time trying to make it work, I ended up in Settings>My Account, and under Your Info it said "You need to update some info for your Microsoft account. When I click
to "Update info", it prompts me to enter my password, then a small window appears just like an error message, saying "An illegal state change was requested".

What is this ? And how can I solve this issue ??

I can't sign in to the xbox app on PC - "An illegal state change was requested"

Every time I try to sign in to my microsoft account on the xbox app it says "We couldn't sign you in to Xbox Live. An illegal state change was requested"

Then I tried signing in to the xbox app on my phone and it worked. I already followed the steps on the "Fix problems signing in to the Xbox app" support page, and none of them worked. I don't remember requesting a state change, I don't even know what that means.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me, I've been trying to fix this issue for weeks.
