Yesterday, I realised that somehow, my Right Alt and Left Control keys were being spammed milliseconds apart all the time, making it IMPOSSIBLE to use my PC.

You won't believe how wired Windows acts when those keys are being held down lol. Stuff doesn't open, text you type becomes Italian? Opening This PC opens a shortcut to settings, and you literally can't do anything :/

It's most probably a my keyboard going bad with all that pressure from underneath because of my laptop's known battery expansion problem (My trackpad is also REALLY raised, making it impossible to close my lid lol).

Here's what I've tried doing: (I don't mind using an external keyboard, but I still can't use the PC with those keys being pressed)

    1. I tried uninstalling the keyboard(s) in device manager, but it just keeps coming back when it restarts to apply.

    2. There's no option in the BIOS to disable the keyboard.

    3. PowerToys' Keyboard Remapper also doesn't seem to help much at all.

The last option would be to open it up and physically disable the keyboard, but that's something I don't want to do unless there isn't another way, better Keyboard Remapper, or something...

  3. ALT keys not working after developers update

    Hello Paul,

To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • Which type of Windows device are you currently using? (PC, tablet or laptop)
    • If your device has 2 Alt button, does it happen on both Alt keys on the keyboard?
    • Since you're trying to input a special character using Alt key, have you checked if the Num Lock key is activated?
In the meantime, we recommend that you check if Sticky Keys is turned on in the Accessibility settings. Sticky Keys lets you press one key at a time for keyboard shortcuts. To check, refer to the steps below:

    • Click on Start.
    • Click on the gear icon to open the Settings.
    • Click on Ease of Access.
    • On the left panel, click on Keyboard.
    • Turn off Sticky Keys.

I'm not able to use my laptop because of the Control and Alt keys constantly being phantom...

    ctrl alt del to logon

    Hi Diane,

Conflicts with the user account settings is one of the possible reasons why the secure sign-in option is enabled on your computer even if the box in the settings is not checked. I would suggest that you enable and disable the
Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. You can follow the steps below:

    • Press the Windows key + R.
    • Type control userpasswords2 or netplwiz and press the Enter key.
    • Click the Advanced tab.
    • Under Secure sign-in, check the Require users to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete checkbox.
    • Click Apply.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Open the same settings again and uncheck the Require users to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete checkbox and follow the
      steps 5 and 6.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.
