    Image Rotation and EXIF

I'm aware of how EXIF values work to indicate how an image should be rotated to be right way up. But that runs into problems when using software that doesn't automatically orient images according to the EXIF values.

What I want is to be able to fix images so that they are the right way up, and then remove the EXIF orientation values. The end result would be an image that is the right way up and has no EXIF values to worry about - so it would be presented right way up regardless of whether the software uses the EXIF values or not.

Is there any tool out there that can do that for me?

FYI: Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1316)

    :)

    Picture header repair... Help please!!

maybe this can help if you don't end up getting viewable recoveries.
    Exif Jpeg header manipulation tool
    Exif Jpeg header manipulation tool

Things jhead can modify in an exif jpeg file
    • Up-right images according to rotation tag using jpegtran
    • Set or relative adjust internal exif timestamps
    • Fix date / time offsets in large batches of images
    • Re-name or date stamp files according to exif timestamp
    • Transfer exif headers between images
    • Replace thumbnails inside Exif headers
    • Edit jpeg comments (but not the Exif comments)
    • Delete exif or comment sections from jpeg images
    • Create new minimal exif header containing date and thumbnail

    Image Rotation and EXIF

Photo Rotation | Portriat orientation in photo and on monitor screen

In Irfanvew, if the image exif has info about orientation, then in Options > Properties > JPG/PCD/GIF set Auto rotate according to exif info (if available).

If you want a rotated 'view' only, click the L or R keys on the keyboard.

Or if you want to batch convert, File > Batch Conversion > Click "Advanced" Button > Click on Rotate Left or Rotate Right -also set other options you want and click OK or to save the settings click the save preferences for using the same options in future. Then back in the Batch Conversions dialog, in "Output Directory for Results files" select a target folder (different from the Source). Then select the files you want converted from the files listing showing in the "Batch Conversion " dialog box (to start with experiment using a couple of images). Then click the "Start Batch" button.

Also note that XnView is free for personal use.
