Windows 10: Images Blocked in Windows Mail

I'm using Windows Mail Version 16005.12624.20368.0. on Windows 10 Pro version 1909 OS build 18363.836. I'm having issues with emails that come in from Reddit where the thumbnail images are broken. I know the emails are fine as I can view the email properly on other devices. Also, I get inline images from other addresses that load without an issue.


I have "Automatically download external images and style formats except S/MIME Mail on" as well as "Automatically download external images and style formats for S/MIME Mail on". That didn't make a difference. Not sure if there is another setting somewhere I am missing, but I can't seem to find anything else. Anyone know why these images are broken and how I can fix it?

Block e-mails

to block the senders please follow these steps

open the message you want to block.

Add the sender to the blocked senders list.

In Windows Live Mail, choose Actions→Junk E-Mail→Add Sender to Blocked Senders List.

In Windows Mail, choose Message→Junk E-Mail→Add Sender to Blocked Senders List.

In Outlook Express, choose Message→Block Sender.

Click the Yes button or click OK.

Windows 10 mail automatically downloads images

I understand that the images are automatically downloaded in Windows Mail. We will help you.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if the issue resolves.

• Open Windows Mail App.
• Click on the Gear Icon/ Settings on the left bottom.
• Select Reading in the right corner.
• Turn Off Automatically download external images and Style Fonts.
• Restart the Application and check if the issue resolves.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
