Windows 10: "Improvements"

Is anyone at Microsoft paying any attention to the huge demand for workarounds to get rid of new "features" in Windows 10?

E.g., don't hide scroll bars, get rid of Quick Access, disable file grouping. Or are we to expect another 18 years of assuming all users are teenagers with a six-second attention span?

Spelling and grammar improvements in Google Docs for G Suite

Quick launch summary

Earlier this year we introduced a BETA for new grammar suggestions in Google Docs. Now we’re making this feature available for G Suite Basic, Business, and Enterprise users.

The new features enhance existing spell check functions and highlight possible grammatical errors in your text. We’re also introducing a revamped interface for reviewing spelling and grammar suggestions which makes it faster and easier to spot and correct errors in your text.

Some improvements you’ll see are:

Grammar

Possible grammar corrections will be underlined in blue. To see a suggested correction or dismiss the alert, simply right-click.

You will also see possible grammar errors when running a spelling and grammar check through the Tools menu.

New language review interface

You can easily review all language suggestions for your document with the updated spelling and grammar check tool. Access it through the “Tools” menu or right-click on a suggestion and select “Review more suggestions” — you’ll see each suggestion and actions to correct any errors.

Rapid Release domains: Extended rollout (potentially longer than 15 days for feature visibility) starting on March 5, 2019.

Available to G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite Enterprise, and G Suite for Education.

Not Available to G Suite Enterprise for Education, and G Suite for Nonprofits.

Ovi Store - Suggestions for improving

This unofficial topic is for people to add suggested improvements for the Ovi Store.

1. A process for managing purchased apps (re-download function, backup to PC/Mac, etc...)

2. Improved app descriptions (bigger screenshots, screen resolution info, optimised for etc...)

There's not enough information

It's hard to tell if the app/media is optimised for your device

3. Restructure the store into completely separate areas: apps, media, personalisation

I won't ever purchase overpriced videos or wallpapers, yet whenever I check the Ovi Store my recommendations are filled with videos and wallpapers.

4. Fix the search function.

5. Reduce the size of the banner on

When I'm using a laptop this banner takes up over half of the screen

6. Fix the sort order of apps

When I use "Newest to Oldest" some apps seem to stay as the newest item even though they haven't been updated.

7. Encourage lower pricing of apps plus the use of lite/trial versions

Most apps on Ovi are way too expensive, I would suggest that part of the reason that the Apple app store does so much volume is due to the low pricing of many apps ($0.99 or $1.99 in a lot of circumstances)

The use of lite versions would allow customers to trial software and purchase the full version if they're happy with it (very important when your not sure if the app is optimised for your device). This makes for more satisfied customers.

8. Target organisations and developers with popular apps for iPhone and encourage them to develop similar apps for Symbian.
