  1. INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and Keyboard Problems...

I've just changed the motherboard and CPU, and have now tried to start it up:

    - Windows starts to load and then I get the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.
    - Windows restarts and hits the same problem again (it was booting fine before I swapped the motherboard and CPU)...
    - Windows then starts up Windows repair...
    - I then get the screen prompting me to select my keyboard...
    - but it doesn't recognise my keyboard - which is plugged into the PS2 port. The keyboard is connected - I can I start to the BIOS and the keyboard is working fine. I've also tried a USB2 keyboard - still not recognised at the screen asking me to select the keyboard (while again, fine for the BIOS).

Any ideas on why I get the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error/why the keyboard isn't recognised?

    Thanks!

    :)

    INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and Keyboard Problems...

Please have a look: *Arrow Troubleshooting stop 0x7B and stop 0xED

Do the first step (Changed storage/SATA controller mode) at first, see how it goes. Let us know.

If a PS/2 keyboard/mouse is not recognized when it is connected to a PS/2 port, either the port or the keyboard/mouse is not functioning properly.

If you follow the step 1 and step 2 of the 0x7B troubleshooting and still the HDD is not accessible, then two devices are not accessible for the motherboard. Ask the vendor to replace it in that case.

  5. Many thanks for your help. It's taken a while to get back to this (the desktop has been out of action now for a while) - work and the builders in - but have spent a while trying to get this fixed...and I can say that I am well and truly flummoxed - as well as mightily frustrated.*Mad

I followed the link and ruled out (I think) all apart from the Problematic Device driver...

I've also tried booting to a SSD I have with Windows 7 on. Similar error - but it reports a problem with device drivers - I think.

Anyway, I've returned to the Windows 10 disk, and am trying to get it to boot into safe mode, so I can see if the drivers are the problem....

So pressing F8/shift F8 on boot - tried about 10 times, no joy.

Created a USB repair disk and booted from that - keyboard is now recognised (as is the mouse) when it boots to the Troubleshoot menu. I select Troubeshoot -> Advanced Options -> but there's no "Start-up setting" (just System restore/System Image Recovery/Start-up Repair (tried - didn't help)/Command Prompt/Go back to previous build.

So I can't see anyway to get to safe mode??????

The other thing - I have had once error 80004001 appear - but that is only once.

Any help really really appreciated. If the desktop wasn't so heavy it may have taken a trip out of the window by now!

First of all, sorry for the late reply. I was not online for last two days.

So Windows 7 is also causing the same thing? I think we need to see one thing about the boot parameters.
    Please let us see this.

  7. Many thanks for your help. I eventually lost patience and just did a fresh install. All sorted now.

    Thanks again
