Windows 10: Indexing Not Working

I am unable to run indexing service on my Windows 10 PC. It just won't turn on and when I try to turn indexing on the option is grayed out.


It was suggested in another thread (which seems to be locked now) that I format and re-install a clean copy of Windows 10 as opposed to the OEM copy. This worked temporarily, but then the problem returned. I'm at a loss, is there anyone who could provide some troubleshooting steps? I ONLY have this problem on my desktop, I have two laptops and a tablet and this is no problem on them at all. It's just this computer. Works fine when I first re-install Windows, but soon after indexing turns off and I can't turn it back on.

Indexing is not working

This issue may occur due to corrupt Windows search files or settings. I suggest you to follow the below method and check if it helps.

Method 1: I would suggest you to run search and indexing troubleshooter
and check. Please follow these steps:

• 
  Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar.
  
• 
  Click troubleshooting in the search results.
  
• 
  Click "View all" and then click "Search and Indexing".
  
• 
  Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.
  

Method 2: Check if Indexing and Windows Search services are enabled. If not, enable them, if they are already enabled, then disable Windows Search Service and then enable again and restart.

  Press Windows key + R.
  
• 
  Type services in the run box, go to the Windows search services and restart them.

Unable to make changes in Indexing Options
