    Indexing options does not respond

I have just noticed my file search is not working. I've been through the usual processes until I reached the solution: rebuild windows search index.

When I go control panel>indexing options, the window comes up it saying: <waiting to receive indexing status .... > and just hangs. I use Task manage to end the process.

So I seem to have found the problem but can't find a solution. This may also be a symptom of another slight issue in that sometimes it takes a few seconds to view a file. I'm using a Samsung 960 Evo m2 500 GB ssd with lots of HDD's with an Intel i5 6600K CPU.

    Help.

    :)

Unable to make changes in Indexing Options

    Hello,

We suggest to run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter and check if it helps with the indexing issue you are experiencing.

Here's how you may run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter:

    • Press the Windows key + X, and then click
      Control Panel
      .
    • Type Troubleshooting, and then click View all.
    • Click Search and Indexing.
    • Follow the steps provided by the troubleshooter.

    Tell us how it goes.

    Regards.

OneDrive no longer in list of folders to index in "Indexing Options"

Ref: Windows 10 Pro Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.48)

    Dear All,

After an Windows update today, OneDrive folder is no longer listed as a folder available for indexing in the "Indexing Options" control panel.

I have tried restarting, deleting the index, unlinking PC from OneDrive and relinking.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

By the way, why is the OneDrive Category locked when posting questions?!

Indexing off and cannot get it back on

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your response.

We appreciate the time and effort that you have invested in to fix the issue. I would suggest that you return the settings back to
Local System Account from This Account under
    Log on
tab and perform the steps below.

    • Rebuild the Windows Search Index and check. Refer to these steps. This can be used if you are able to go through the
      Indexing Options in Control Panel.
    • On the search bar type Indexing Options and click on it.
    • Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the
Indexing Options window. This displays a new window titled Advanced Options.
    • Click the Index Settings tab if it isn’t selected already.
    • Click the Rebuild button to delete and rebuild the file index.
    • Click OK to confirm.

    Hope this helps
