Windows 10: Indexing Options File Explorer

Hi Everybody, I'm having a problem with the "Indexing Options/Advanced/File Types". Namely that this screen is blank. There are no files listed. I've tried reindexing, troubleshooting, sfc, Dism, restoring to a previous state etc, all to no avail. There are just no files listed to adjust. I suspect that the problem lies within my Profile settings and not the Windows system since when I log on under any another profile, all the File Types reappear. Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated since all my efforts have ended in failure.

I suggest you to try the below step to see if it resolves the issue.



If the index can't find a file that you know exists in an indexed location, you might need to rebuild the index. Rebuilding the index can take several hours, and searches might be incomplete until the index is fully rebuilt.

1. Open Indexing Options by clicking the
Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the
search box, type indexing options, and then click
Indexing Options.

2. Click Advanced. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. In the Advanced Options dialog box, click the
Index Settings tab, and then click Rebuild. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

indexing Publisher files

Hi,

What do you mean when you say 'how can I change Publisher to the other filter ?'

Run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with search and indexing of files and folders. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check the status of the issue. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Not indexing (searching) truecrypt volume

Oddly I find the drive letter created by Truecrypt does not appear in the list of drives shown in Indexing Options, so I can't add it to be indexed, so you're doing better in that respect.

I'd suggest you experiment with file explorer: browse to your mounted Truecrypt drive, and see if you can then find a file instantly (i.e. indexed).
