Windows 10: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND

I don't recall the turning point but my Edge/IE browsers are not working. Specifically, Edge yields the message:


The DNS server might be having problems. Error Code: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND


In addition, I can no longer sign into my corporate online 365 account via any of the MS Office 2016 apps ("Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues."). I can't even submit feedback through the hub since it doesn't think I'm connected to the internet.

Some of my other apps are also having trouble detecting an internet connection.


Chrome and Firefox both still work flawlessly and I can retrieve/send emails via the Outlook app. (and Skype for Business works too).


I believe was running the October Fall Creators update (1803 build 17134.345) with no issues when things started to go wrong. I attempted several fixes including most of the usual ones listed at this URL (resetting Edge etc, powershell stuff, ipconfig commands etc):

I thought I would try the insider preview subscription and ended up at Windows 10 Build 18282.rs_prerelease.181109-1613 which did NOT solve my problem.

Trying a different user account on the same PC had no effect (same symptoms). No other PC's in the office have this issue (same internet connection),. I am able to log into a different PC with my creds and things work fine.

The only thing left to try that I can think of is to reinstall the OS.
