As with a lot of other people, just made an account to thank you guys for figuring this out. Removed Betternet and it was gone immediately; thought I had some malware or something. Thanks very much.

  3. Hotspot Shield is also affected. Possibly a compromised API that the VPNs are using?

Thanks for mentioning Touch VPN! I have tried to find the problem on my mac all day, and finally it is gone. I have used it for over a year, so it is weird it suddenly began bothering me.

Can confirm that Hotspot shield caused me the issue too, which is strange as I've had it for over a year now.

Mine was caused by hotspot shield too.

I disabled it but do I need to anything additional? Im running some scans now. Is there a way to tell if my pc was compromised? I'm afraid if using it now (currently posting from my phone on Firefox app)

    Or am I overreacting?

  9. At first, I just assumed that it was a bug in Google Chrome, and so I left it, but then after a while it started to annoy me, so I researched it and found this forum, and I'm so glad I did as it solved my problem right away, I only made this account to thank everyone on here for their amazing help! Thank you!!!

For me it was removing the Betternet VPN extension. Thank you so much! Does anyone know if it is just the browser extension that is compromised or if I should also remove the Betternet program from my computer?

I had heard that betternet was causing it, and I have two chrome accounts, I removed betternet from both but it only fixed it on one, as I saw that it was also touchvpn, I removed from the account that still redirected me, and it turns out it's the only one with touchvpn, so now my problem is fixed, thanks.
