    Hi,

I inherited my dad's desktop. I do not know his Microsoft account password. I need to reinstall Windows 10. Is this possible without his password?

    :)

my brother’s old computer is plugged in and aparantly

working. It lists his name as owner and asks for a password. I have used this computer before at his house and the password was “shooter” but now that does not work. Any suggestions on how to make this computer my own?

Inherit permission from the parent folder in Windows Server 2012R2

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want the child folder to inherit the permissions from the parent folder. You can try the following steps and check if that helps:

    1. Right click on the folder to which you want to provide permission.
    2. Click on Security tab.
    3. Click on Advanced.
    4. Click on Enable Inheritance and.
    5. Click on Apply and OK.

If that doesn’t help, as you are using Windows Server 2012R2, I would suggest you to post your query in
TechNet forums, where we have support professionals who
are well equipped with the knowledge on Windows Server.

    Hope it helps.

    Inherited my dad's computer

    [WTB][US]   New Computer for Dad

EDIT: Found a computer and picked it up today thanks to Kantastic! *Smile Inherited my dad's computer :)

I'm visiting my family in Florida in the next few weeks and would love to surprise my step-Dad with a new computer. What he has right now is very old and outdated (think 64MB of DDR memory)! *Eek! Inherited my dad's computer

My step-Dad is a musician and I'd like to find him a computer for music recording and editing.

The specs aren't set in stone, but ideally I think I'd like to get him a computer with the following:
    - Newer dual/quad core CPU
    - 500GB HDD
    - 4GB RAM (DDR3 if possible)
    - CD/DVD Burner

This is going to be a gift so I'd like to try to keep the price down if possible.

All of his peripherals are outdated as well so if you could spare an extra keyboard, mouse, etc. that would be much appreciated but of course not required.

Let me know what you guys have, please help me help him out - he's a really good guy. *Smile Inherited my dad's computer :)
