Windows 10: Insiders - Fortnite BattlEye failed to launch

BattlEye service is unable to launch in many of the windows insider builds. This bug has been going on for one year already. In the previous builds, we would get a BSOD when launching Fortnite BattlEye service. At the September 2019 build (18958) I am still unable to launch the battleye service. Now, I am seeing an error message saying that windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have appropriate permissions. I am an admin of my PC, and the fortnite folder is given all permissions. This is a problem with the BattlEye service since it says failed to launch the game. Is there a fix to this insider bug? Anyone encountering the same bug?

BSOD recently happening when playing Fortnite

I think you're probably having the same issue discussed here. It seems to be a problem with a component used by Fortnite. The anti-cheat system, possibly. Interestingly, it's crashing in a Microsoft function but I suspect it's being passed a bad parameter by BEDaisy.sys which is a BattlEye driver.

Thanks also to Pauli O so I was looking towards a game problem.

I ran that little .bat that Sumit (Independent Advisor) sent me and discovered the culprit was BattlEye.

I knew Fortnite uses BattlEye so I deleted Fortnite.

I then deleted the Epic Games launcher.

Fail

I then checked the what services were running, and even though it was set to manually start, there was an entry for BattlEye in services. Noticing the path shown I deleted the BattlEye directory under the /program files/common files/ directory.

I then searched the registry for BattlEye and what do you know, there is a BattlEye registry entry. I deleted the key and all sub-values.

SUCCESS!!!!

So after only 6 hours and your nifty little .bat file, I am now updated!!

Thanks for your input and that little file. What's that they say about great things in small packages??

Still no fix for crash when launching BattlEye-enabled games?

I'm sure MS wouldn't risk pushing a version that breaks some of the most popular games around (Fortnite, for example, uses BattlEye)
